This is a simulation of the last development spin-off from the Spitfire. Using a laminar-flow wing (similar to the P51 Mustang) and a gigantic Rolls Royce Griffon engine developing 2,350 horse power, the Spiteful could attain higher speeds and manoeuvrability than the Spitfire. Only 19 Spitefuls were made along with 9 Seafangs, the marine version of the aircraft, which was fitted with contra-rotating propellers to negate the huge yaw forces this powerful engine produced. The Spiteful and Seafang had only a very short lifespan as the dawn of the jet age made them obsolete.
Thank you for looking.
